Help needed with text box width and breakpoints

Hello,

I have a text box that I’d like to have a width of 800px at the larger breakpoints, but have automatically adjust for the small and extra small breakpoints so that the text doesn’t get cut off. Originally, I had left the width setting for the text box as it came from the template and it was still cutting off for the small and extra small templates. I tried changing the width to auto, and max width to 800px (I know the screen shot shows I have it set to 800px and a max of 800px now), but that started changing the width of the text box at the higher breakpoints and making it more narrow which changed the look of the section negatively.

I’d like to keep the box with a width of 800px at the largest breakpoint, and then have it adjust as necessary as the screen sizes move down to make sure that text isn’t getting cut off. Any suggestions? Login info attached in a secure note.

Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave,

Thank you for writing in, you only need to set the max-width to 800px and leave the width to auto. That way the text width does not go pass 800px (max) but respond when the screen gets narrower (auto).

I see that you have W3 Total Cache, please clear your caching after a changes to make sure the changes take effect immediately.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

Hi @friech,

I adjusted the settings to reflect what you mentioned above, then cleared the cache in W3 Total Cache. The problem is that the width is being set to less than 800 now even at the largest breakpoint which is changing the look of the section. I have this same issue on most of my pages since on this page, and most of my other pages I used the “Blueprint: Section Dividers 3” template for all of them.

What else can I try to get the text box to be 800px wide at the larger breakpoints but not cut off on the smaller ones?

Thanks!
Dave

Hi @friech,

Please disregard the previous response, I think I figured it out. In addition to adjusting the settings you gave me above, it looked like the template had that row set to two columns instead of one for the larger breakpoints which caused the text box to become more narrow. I adjusted that and it seems like the problem is solved.

Thanks for the help!

Dave
