The .mp4 wasn’t corrupted. I produced the file myself out of Adobe Premiere Pro and after your suggestion decided to do some further investigation. Here’s what I found:

The mp4 file played fine in Safari locally on my computer.

I also played fine in Safari once I sourced the file directly from my server - rather than from KeyCDN.

So I excluded *.mp4 files from being served thru the CDN.
It’ll cost me some bandwidth from the server, but at least it’s only for safari users. .webm files work fine when served thru the CDN.
I’ll do a little more experimenting. Maybe the CDN can cope with .mp4 at a lower bit rate, or file size, or …
