Header shrinks differently with Pro version 2.1.5

Our company is changing its name, so I’m building a duplicate of our old site. The old site uses Pro 1.2.4, and the new site uses Pro 2.1.5. Both sites use WordPress 4.9.6 and PHP 7.1.18. I’m using the header builder on both sites, and the bar settings are exactly the same, with the exception of the content length. Both have the shrink amount set at 0.5, and I’m not using any custom css.

With the new version of Pro, the header quickly shrinks down to 50% as soon as you start to scroll down. This results in a white band appearing between the bottom of the header and the top of the page’s background image. With the older version of Pro, the header shrinks at the same rate that you scroll down, regardless of how slowly you scroll, so the header always fills the space between the top of the browser and the top of the page’s background image.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to make the header behave like it does with the older version of Pro. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Hi there,

I’m sorry about how this has effected your site. We made this change moving forward because of some complexities working with multiple sticky bars. It’s now a fixed transition. It might be something we look into again for another update. For now there are two solutions:

  1. Set the bar position to “absolute”. This will remove the space altogether as the bar would hang over the rest of the content. You will need to manage the spacing by adding some margin or padding to your page elements.

  2. Set the page background color to white in Theme Options. For you this would work for all pages but the home page unfortunately.

Thanks, Alexander. I chose option #1 and added padding at the top of each page. That seemed to be the easiest, and it got rid of the white band on every page. :slight_smile:
