Header Assignments (two methods)

I understand through the Header builder that I can create and assign multiple headers to specific pages. I am curious though about the “Layout Assignments” in the individual page settings. Apparently, I can assign a particular header to a page in the page settings and/or I can assign the header to the same page through the Header builder “Assignment Conditions”. Is there a difference between these two methods and why would I choose one over the other?

Capture one is the Page Settings Option

Capture two is the Header Assignment Conditions

Header Assignment

Hey @mcaravaglia,

Thanks for reaching out!

If you select a header in the page Layout assignment it will bypass the condition from the header. It means that it has more priority than the condition in the header.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Marc. I ended up using the page Layout assignment, as I was unable to get it to work the way I needed, using the Header assignment settings. I needed a few pages to have one header and a few other pages to have a different header.

In the Header assignment, I used “Page (specific)” for each page I wanted these headers to appear. After adding the first page, I added another condition using and/or and continued adding the conditions this way until all pages were assigned. However, when I went to any of the pages, no header appeared. Thus, I reverted to the Page assignment, assigning the desired Header to each page and it worked.

I’m not sure if I did anything incorrectly, but that’s my story!

Hi @mcaravaglia,

The way you have selected the header is another option with high priority. So if any condition does not work, the page settings work, and that is your case.

Thanks
