Header and footer not showing up (polylang, non standard languages)

Hey guys. I have a kind of weird problem. My customer has a website that uses X Pro and a custom header. She uses Polylang for translation and 3 languages - english being the standard one. This week we updated some plugins but I don’t know which one could be the problem ( unfortunately I also don’t remember what plugins got updated). When I create a new page in english, everything is fine. The page shows up with header and footer and the page template set to standard. When I create the german and spanish versions, the header and footer don’t show (also standard template). When I switch to a different page template (e.g. Container with header and footer), the page content does not show at all. Any idea what could cause this problem? It worked fine for 2 years and since this week it doesn’t.

Thanks for your help!

Best, Umberto

I checked the header assignment and tried to set it to entire page, language specific, page specific, posttype page…nothing.

Hello @umbertofederico,

Thanks for writing to us.

There is an ongoing conflict issue with the plugin and Header and Footer assignment. We have already reported the issue to our development team, but there is no solution till now. As a temporary solution, you can follow the below steps, every time you update the header.

  1. Deactivate PolyLang
  2. Delete the Header Assignment and modify the update
  3. Add the Header assignment back and save
  4. Activate the Polylang

Hope it helps.
Thanks

I see. Thanks for the answer. Well that’s not really an option so I reverted back to an older version of the Theme and now it works fine. Do you know if that’s something your developers are working on and is gonna be resolved in the near future?

And another question - would using a standard header make a difference?

Thanks for your reply!

Hi @umbertofederico,

The said plugin has a conflict with the custom Header and Footer assignment and does not have any problem with the default header and footer.
And we have already reported this issue for further investigation, but unfortunately don’t have any news on this.

Thanks
