Header 1 Widget Area - horizontal navigation bar?

Hello there,

Please could you assist me with the following?
I need to do a custom menu on the home page of this site: http://rdmdefenceday2019.co.za/
I’ve added a section right at the top, added the Widget element to it, and set it Header 1 - it makes a sidebar shape and i would very much like it to make a horizontal navigation bar, above the image slider, please.

How do i do that, please?

Hi Carin,

Thanks for writing in and the very detailed post information. Instead of using the widget area, please remove it and use the Navigation Inline element instead.

By the way, X 6.1.2 and Cornerstone 3.1.2 are now available in automatic updates! This release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (https://theme.co/changelog/). Please do update to the latest version. After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Thank you - that worked beautifully!

How can i give that menu bar a background colour please? I would like to make it light gray. Are there settings in the customiser or do i need to target with CSS?

Also, the menu items that have subpages and would therefore need dropdown items, don’t seem to be functioning - how to fix that, please?

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in!
To change the background color of the menu please change the background of the section that you have the menu item.

Regarding the submenu, it’s actually working fine but hidden behind the second section.
Please add higher z-index value to the section in comparison to other section of the page.

Hello there,

Thank you for the reply. I cannot find z-index on my customiser as per your image - i attach screen shots of what i see. Where you have “Font size & Z-Index”, mine just says Font size and height and width, no z-index to be found anywhere.
Maybe after this Cornerstone update, z-index was removed? Please advise where to see z-index, thank you :’(

Regarding changing the colour of the nav bar - i only seem to be able to change the bg colour of the menu items, which then makes grey blocks behind the items, where i would like to make the whole strip grey, in one continuous line. Perhaps i’m looking in the wrong place? I attach a screen shot of where i am looking - please advise?

Thanks for the screenshot!
And sorry for the bad explanation by me, but I have mentioned that both the solution to the section not to the navigation menu element.
Just select the section where you have added the navigation menu and check the Background color and z-index for that.

Hello there,

Aaaaah i see what you mean! My apologies - this is the first time I’m using X Theme, i’m also still getting used to Cornerstone. I was looking at the element and not the section.
