H1 Headings not being recognised in SEO checker!

Hi, I’ve used a few online SEO checkers for our website and even though I’ve used the ‘Headline’ element and specified it as a H1 tag, the report says I haven’t used any H1 tags, so for some reason it’s not seeing them! I don’t know if it’s the SEO checkers are unreliable or if there is an issue when specifying the Headline as a H1 tag.

I’d appreciate it if you’d be able to take a look please!

Here’s a screen grab from one of the SEO checkers:

Thanks!

Hello @core365,

Thanks for writing in!

Please edit your homepage because you have added a headline element with the h1 as the tag but then your content were wrapped with a p tag.

<p>Creative Design &amp; Digital Marketing Agency.</p>

Be advised that you cannot insert a <p> tag inside a heading tag such as <h1>.

If you need anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

Hi @ruenel,

Thanks for the info, but I don’t know how the <p> tags got inserted as I definitely didn’t add them in there myself! I wouldn’t even know why you’d want to add in <p> tags to the headline!

Also, I’ve just gone to check in Cornerstone - I’ve clicked on the Headline and I can’t see any <p> tags when I click the source </>. Also, on the Headline element, for ‘Setup’ it is set to ‘h1’ and when you click on ‘Edit Text’, in ‘Rich Text’ it is set to ‘Paragraph’. Even though it’s set to ‘h1’ already, do I have to also change the ‘Paragraph’ to ‘H1’ in the ‘Rich Text’ option? I hope all that makes sense!

I’m getting really confused with it now, I thought it was supposed to be simple by selecting ‘h1’ for the ‘Base Font Size & Tag’ in ‘Setup’.

I’ve included screen grabs for your reference.

Thanks

Hi @core365,

I tried to check this on my local setup and the text in the Headline element doesn’t get wrapped in a <p> tag not unless I edit it in the WYSIWYG mode and hit enter.

Is there a chance that you can try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
