Google Serps showing BLOG

Hi,

Screenshots provided to compare two sites. My site on X is picking up sitename.com/blog instead of URL with keywords.

My tech thinks it is X. Other site is on Flatsome.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gemma

Hello @twoscotsabroad,

Thanks for writing in! Google Search prioritizes the breadcrumb over the URL of the page. This is why it has disregarded your URL. If you want to remove the Blog in your SERP results, you will have to disable the breadcrumbs in the site. You can then ask Google to crawl again your site so that you will get the same result from your other site.

Best Regards.

Thank you for your reply. According to Yoast, this is what the URL should look like to SERPs, that’s the keywords in the URL and not the breadcrumbs,

I have breadcrumbs disabled in Yoast settings on both sites - Two Scots Abroad on X and Everything Edinburgh on Flatsome.

Could you advise me further on:

  1. What the difference is between the two sites?
  2. How I switch off breadcrumbs?
  3. Why this is just happening?

I have been tracking my position in SEPRs since 2016 and ‘BLOG’ has never appeared instead of the keywords.

Best,
Gemma

Hi Gemma,

The breadcrumbs that I am referring to is the built-in breadcrumb of the theme. You can go to X > Theme Options > Header > Miscellaneous and disable the breadcrumb. You may also need to force Google to re index your site so that the SERPS will be updated. It might take a little while for the search results to change.

Best Regards.
