Google Remarketing Code Issue

Hi,

We are using Google Tag Manager, and also showing an instance of Google Remarketing Code on our site when using Google Tag Assistant (which is causing an issue).

I’ve had a look at the function.php file for our Child Theme, and don’t see the code there.

How can I locate the Google Remarketing Code?

I’ve also done a view source code, and a search for the Google Remarketing ID that shows in the screenshot and nothing is found.

Any thoughts on how I can locate the Google Remarketing Code, so I can delete it?

Thanks, Mike

Hello There,

Thanks for posting in! I have checked your site and it seems that you have installed a Google Tag Manager plugin. Please go to Settings > Google Tag Manager and check out the code. If nothing is displaying, please provide us access to your site so that we can investigate.

Best Regards.

Hi,

Yes we are using Google Tag Manager as I’d mentioned. That is fine.

It’s where the code is for the Google Remarketing Code is?

Login details are in the Secure Note

Hi @mikedoughty,

Yes, it’s there but it’s added as code. It’s auto injected, please go to Admin > Settings > Google Tag Manager. You can also disable the plugin if you wish it completely removed.

Thanks!

Hi,

I’m sorry I don’t understand. We have Google Tag Manager setup and we use the GTM plugin for this purpose.

I’ve looked at the GTM Plugin settings, and there is no reference to Google Remarketing, and Google have mentioned we have TWO instances of Google Remarketing Script occurring, one through the GTM (and the plugin setup), and the other via code on the site.

Hence my original question about where I can find this “other instance” of Google Remarketing, as it’s effecting our audience.

If you are saying we have two instances of GTM operating, one through the plugin and the hard coded, then please let me know, as again, I can’t find any script placed manually on the site.

Thanks, Mike

Hello Mike,

I have logged in to your site and I have scoured the site settings, plugins, even the child theme and the parent theme files. There are no other code related to GTM or Remarketing code in the site. Could you please temporarily disable GTM and check it again with Google if the other code is still running?

Please let us know how it goes.
