Google - Mobile Issues Detected

Starting on the 26th Google Search Console started alerting us of two mobile issues affecting 49 of our pages. But we didn’t do anything new or different.

The issues are that the font is too small to read and that clickable elements are too close together.

I went to the pages on mobile to see and don’t really see an issue. I bumped up the font size on the site overall and it still didn’t fix the issue. I screenshotted the errors I am getting.

Here is a link of one of the examples - https://yourbrooklynguide.com/rooftop-bars-in-dumbo/

Thanks,

Hello Scott,

Thanks for writing in! It seems that you are using an outdated X (8.2.3) theme and Cornerstone (5.2.3) plugin. Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 9.1.4
  • Cornerstone 6.1.4
  • WordPress 5.8
  • PHP 7.4

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Please let us know how it goes.

Apologies for the delay.

So I updated the Wordpress, then the theme as well as all the plugins. Looks like it might have resolved 9 pages as I only have 35 errors now.

But it still says text too small and images to close together for posts like this - https://yourbrooklynguide.com/coney-island-winter/

It’s odd because when I go to these pages on my phone I don’t see any issues. Then when I go to compare them against posts that aren’t getting flagged I don’t see any difference.

Hi Scott,

I would request you check by deactivating all the plugins except the Cornerstone, if the result comes fine that means there might be an issue related to one of the plugins. Then activate that one by one and check which one causes the error.
If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above helps and you are still getting the issue, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks
