Google Maps not displaying even with valid API Key

Hi,

There is an issue with the Cornerstone Google Maps element.
Even with a valid API key, it doesn’t display.

The warning in the console log is:
Google Maps JavaScript API has been loaded directly without a callback. This is not supported and can lead to race conditions and suboptimal performance.

Adding the map with an iframe in a raw html element works just fine.
One example page is https://visitbo.no/evjudalen/
But maps don’t load on your demo pages either: https://demo.theme.co/elements/#map

Can you please fix the map? We need the add marker feature.

Hi Catalin,

Thanks for reaching out.
There might be a few reasons behind your issues, and it will be very difficult to recognize the exact reason without investigation. I would suggest you please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

The problem is not specific to my site, it happens on an a fresh WP installation with just the Pro theme installed.
I provided login credentials for such a site.

Hello Catalin,

I checked your site please note that Google Maps is no longer free so you have to pay for it and you need to buy a separate API key for each domain. In case you have purchased it, You have to associate a credit card so that you can get billed if your site has requests that exceed the $200 credit they give you monthly for free. That is why you get the watermarked maps.

Hope it helps
Thanks

The API works just fine in the iframe. So there’s nothing wrong with the API.
I’ll provide a link in the secure page. If I load the map with the iframe, the map loads. If I use the Map element, it doesn’t.

Hey Catalin,

I believe that this is a bug. We have forwarded this thread to our developers already for further investigation.

Please bear with us.

Thank you for acknowledging the issue.
It’s very frustrating getting dismissed when I already debugged the issue and signed up to make a bug report.

Please keep me updated on the progress.

Hi Catalin,

Our development team is looking into it; I would request you please keep an eye on our upcoming releases. The fix might be included in one of those.

Thanks

I have a feeling you need to enable billing in Google Cloud. At least that was what was wrong in our maps. This is something they changed recently. It’s going to look like this. Let us know if that helps.
