Google displaying pages from old site

Hi,

I’ve just redesigned and launched a website for a client. I’ve setup a webmaster account, submitted the sitemap, etc.

When I google the business and they show the preview at the top, it is showing a page that was on the old website, not the new one. So when it’s clicked it gets a 404.

How do I fix this?

The website is Lifezone.church

When I click see more results, most of the links that show are to the old site.

Hello Ashley,

Thanks for writing in! You are having this issue because ever since you have setup your WordPress site, you have allowed Google to index your site even if it is not yet finished. You can actually turn ON/OFF that setting in Settings > Reading > Search Engine Visibility. This should only be turn ON when you are done building the site and ready to go live.

Now that Google have indexed your site, the old pages were already in Google’s index. You may need to ask Google to reindex your site to update the indexed pages of your site. Please check out this links:
