Google Console verification

Hello everyone,
I have one question. I would like to verify my website with Google Console, but I don’t have a child theme installed. The thing is, I don’t really need a child theme on my X theme as I don’t change the code. But the main type of Google verification is by inserting the tag in the head code.
I have found another way to verify the ownership through Yoast Seo plugin, where you insert the tag in the plugin. I am scared to do it as they say the plugin places this tag in your code, and I am worried it can overwrite something. Can I do it this way with parent theme ?

Thanks for asking.

You can do with parent theme but once you update the theme old files will get replaced by new set of files. Hence, we don’t recomend that method.
