Global Settings not working on content/body area of page

I have set my background color in global settings. However, that is not reflected in the content/body of each page I create. It is white. I do not want to have to choose a color for each section which basically means if I want to change the color scheme on my entire website, I cannot do that globally, but would have to do the body/content area (element, row, whatever they are called) individually.

I have been googling solutions for days and it all keeps referring me to the global settings… urgh

• Admin-level username and password
