Global blocks+ to Gutenberg blocks: Feature request

Hi,

I am not sure if this has been covered in the news.

It would be cool if we are able to use the Global Blocks that we design in Pro/ Cornerstone to be able to use as Gurenberg blocks in WP 5.0 post editor. It would be supercool if we can convert the exisiting V1 Elements that are not already present in the WP 5.0 blocks into Gutenberg Blocks for posts (if not the V2 Elements).

This will be good for reusable elements such as Social Sharing, Embeds, CTAs etc in the post.

I understand these could be part of the upcoming Layout Builder for posts but would be great to be able to add these blocks inline in the editor in addition to the template layout design with dynamic content.

Thanks for your feedback, Deepak. I’ll pass this on as feature request.

@dshakya,

Cool idea here! We actually had a proof-of-concept for this at one point. It was simply a Gutenburg block with a select control to pick a Global Block. We decided not to include it at the time but we could look into where it may fit into a future release. It’s unlikely we would do it with other elements since there would be a great deal of work to convert everything and V2 elements wouldn’t even be compatible.

Great. It would be awesome if Global block could be the wrapper for v1 and v2 elements.

Thank you for your feedback, Deepak.
