Global Block footer collapse

Hi There,

I am trying to use global blocks within my footer so that my footer collapses differently at different breakpoints.

Essentially building a large section within the footer using a global block then using shortcodes.

It looks great in the global block design area and everything collapses as it should, but when I insert it into the footer it doesn’t work when the screen reaches each breakpoint.

Is there something I have missed?

Hello Niall,

Thanks for writing in!

You are having this issue because of the Self Flex setting of the container for the content area in your footer. Please set it to “Fill Space Equally”:

  • Seuuj_QBTPehG9DwWkAx6Q

And in your Global Block, since you have truned OFF the Global Container, you must insert a width and maximum width in the row settings:

  • sMCTSaLiTlqx0wL_Gxl_Ug

Kindly check your footer now.

Thanks so much @ruenel this is amazing!
But to further this, how would go about doing the below? It seems to do it on the next break point.

Hi Niall,

Please inspect ROW and set correct columns on the next breakpoint under Layout. It is currently set to 2. See this:

Hope this helps.

Hi @lely,

I have tried this but it won’t move to underneath the other box?

Hi Nial,

Thank you for the clarification. In that case, you want to use GRID:

https://theme.co/docs/grid

See the following GRID LAYOUT settings for each viewport:

For more guidance about GRID element, please watch GRID series from our youtube channel.

Hope this helps.

Hi @lely. This is great! Thank you very much I wasn’t even aware of the grid function. It’s brilliant and has allowed me to do almost everything I need I am stuck on 1 last thing.

Basically making my content area with shortcode fill the column that it is in?

I have tried using CSS and setting width to 100% but it does nothing.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Niall,

You are having that issue because in your Tweets global block, the row settings were set to have two columns in Large and Medium screen sizes:

Please edit your “Tweets” global block to resolve your issue.

@ruenel Thank you very much that is perfect!
I knew I was missing something!
Thank you to the team for the fantastic support.

You’re welcome Niall!
We’re glad we were able to help you out.
