Get older version of X theme ( 5.1.1)

Hi,

I need to compare the version active on the site(5.1.1) to the unchanged version as the site I am working on is not created by someone who knew what he was doing and he did not use any child theme.

I want to compare the changes he had done before updating. thanks.

Hi @faizan,

Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, we don’t provide older copies of the theme. The only provided copies are the latest and the stability release version available in your Apex dashboard.

Thanks!

This is a pretty bad policy. I understand the intent: you’re trying to ensure that people don’t use buggy versions of your releases, because it makes it hard for you to help them. However, it makes it impossible to run your software in a true DevOps environment. For example, I’m running Debian 10. The latest stable WP release for Debian 10 is 4.9.5. People who don’t understand DevOps will throw their arms up and say “You can’t run 4.9.5, it’s full of vulnerabilities!”, but that’s because they don’t know how to maintain a hosting environment properly. You should provide old releases. Automattic does. Why not you?

Hello Matthew,

Thanks for writing in!

It become quite difficult to provide support for older version of Theme and plugins. More importantly new version brings latest features and more importantly ironing out the issues that we get to see as reported by our users and in our own internal testings. And generally it’s a good practice to run the latest version of the software that one is using. To avoid any issues or confusions we suggest our users to use latest version of our Theme and plugin. That’s the reason why we don’t maintain old copies of X Theme.

In case you have further question, please create a new ticket and post the query up over there to avoid any confusion and slow response time.

Thanks for understanding.

I appreciate the time you took to respond, but you’re not responding to what I wrote. We aren’t requesting support for prior versions. We’re simply requesting the ability to download them. As I said in my previous post, one can have very good, technically sound reasons for NOT running the latest version. Without the ability to download the version that is compatible with my environment, I’ll have to abandon Pro for another page builder.

Hello Matthew,

Thanks for updating the thread.

I am getting the point you are trying to make. I completely understand that one may choose not to use the latest version. I will communicate the message to my manager but for now we are not providing previous version of the Theme. Reason for not providing packages of previous versions are explained above.

Thanks for understanding.

Hi
I would also appreciate the ability to download previous versions ( bundles ) of x-theme. No support required. My client has an old installation of x-theme ( installation from 2014) and now their js_composer (4.1.3) is broken - not working correctly on modern browsers. The newest version of js_composer 5.6 ( bundled with the latest -theme ) doesn’t work with content created using an old js_composer 4.1.3
If only I could get older versions of x-theme bundles so I can try different versions of js_composer against their installation I could probably solve the issue.
But with your current policy I’m sucked between very old and the most recent - neither of these options work…

Hello @zzart,

Thanks for updating this thread. The Visual Compser 5.6 should work with pages created with older version. Just make sure that the X theme and Cornerstone is also updated to the latest. And then please make sure that the “Legacy X Integration” in WPBakery Page Builder > Settings is enabled.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.
