GDPR: Font Awesome localy?

Dear Team,

thanks to the GDPR and German court I need to have all CDNs items now locally available.
This means Google font (check) and also font awesome.
How can I provide font awesome locally?

thank you,
Mickna

big +1 here. I’m not even sure if we’re using them but it’s in the list of resources that get loaded.

I can see why they’ve come to that decision and I can’t say I disagree but it will mean that everyone is loading fonts for every site they visit instead of using them from cache, which seems a bit overkill.
Bigger picture I think this is going to affect a lot of websites, but especially lots of wordpress themes.

Looking forward to an answer on this one.

Hi Mickna,

It is not very clear in your comment what exactly you required in this case. Can you please clarify it a bit more so we can be able to help you?

Thanks

Ok, I keep it simple:

In Germany we need to prevent external sources (CDNs) =>

  1. Google Font: This can be done with PRO (via Font Manager). Hosting the fonts locally
  2. Font Awesome: Need a solution to host this font also locally. How to do that?

Thank you,
Mickna

Hello @mickna,

All the Font Awesome icon fonts were included in the theme. It is located in:

  • Pro theme: example.com/wp-content/themes/pro/cornerstone/assets/fonts/
  • X theme: example.com/wp-content/plugins/cornerstone/assets/fonts/

Hope this helps.
