Gather posts in Category on "Portfolio Sort" Button to page in display

Hi, maybe this has been covered. Lots of info in this forum- but cannot find this issue?

On the portfolio page, when you set up for the categories to be “Sorted” by button (which is nice)… it does not gather the category items to fit on the first page. It seems that it will sort based on the user clicking on the page (ie: Page 1, or 2, 3, ect) and then the sort will work per page.

This means that if you are on the first page, and the category is “RED” and you only have 1 RED post in that category on page 1 visible, of say 20 items visible on page 1.- it ONLY shows that 1 post. Even when you have 12 more in the “RED” category on subsequent pages. (ie: 2-6)

is this something that is paired with the “Date” of the post? Or is it something that is just inherently in the database display?

It means that the viewer thinks that there is only 1 of a category when there are much more on subsequent pages!

Would be nice to have the SORT button pull all the posts , regardless of date, to the first page- when you select the SORT button (ie: “RED”).

The functionality of the portfolio sort button is designed to display the category items and sort them out on a page basis. As this is the default way of how the portfolio sort button works with the theme, changing it could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities.

However, I have taken note of this and added this to our Feature Request list so that it will be considered in future development.

While you’re at it putting up feature requests on the list… having previews on rollovers for videos in portfolio view would be a killer app.

Is there another plug=in that will do what I am seeking?

We do not have any knowledge of a plugin that do a video preview yet.
You might want to check it in WordPress plugins section.

https://codecanyon.net/item/media-hovers-wordpress-plugin/20803562 will this allow me to activate a rollover on portfolio view? or should i just use the Essential Grid Plugin?

Hey @markomark,

We haven’t tested this plugin before. If this plugin follows the WordPress standards then it should work. By the way, you can also use Essential Grid in displaying your video. You can get and install this plugin by going to X > Validation > Extensions section.
