Gallery and Image´s

Hi there,

i have 2 Questions:

  1. Is it possible to make a custom gallery the fast way? i tried essential grid but i cant customize it as i want so i did it last time with modal content like this (scroll down to the pictures): http://holzwurm-wurm.at/emmerling/

  2. when i have a section with 2 marginless columns and i do a text in the first column and a picture in the second column, the picture is cropped. is it possible to change that so the image covers the whole column? also can i set a minimal height of that column or image? last time i did a workaround and set the picture as a background of the column. but then it does seem very cropped when i view it in mobile view. so i added a image in that column that only shows up when the width is smaller then 786 px. but i think there is an easier way?

many thanks in advance for your help!

cheers

Hello Harald,

Thanks for writing in!

1.) Making a custom gallery the fastest way is by using a 3rd party plugin, The Grid or Essential Grid. They both have different Pros and Cons though. The best part of the Essential grid by the way is the better control control of the elements in the grid.

2.) If you want to have an image left and text content on the right or vice versa, please do not use image element. Just simply make the image as a background image of your column so that you will not have any problems with the spacing and the columns will be on the same height. The only drawback is that the background image will be zoomed in/out because it will try to cover the whole column.

And if you want to preserve the image size then you will have to consider that no matter what you do, you will have a difficulty in making the columns to have the same height. That easiest would be that the your text content height should always not be more than the height of the image so that there will be no blank spaces in the column where contains the image.

Hope this make sense.

hi,

point 1 is fixed now. i retried ess grid and it worked very well. thx for that ip.

for point 2 i ran into troubles when setting a column background. i attached 2 pictures. first with normal width second with small width. hope you can help me.

as you can see when viewing with small width the images are cropped. any workaround?

edit: btw. in the pro builder it looks right, the images look ok there but when i preview it in the browser the images are cropped.

thx in advance

Hey Harry,

You will need some content in the column to fill the space. To just display the picture, you can fill in the column with a Gap element. Increase the gap’s size until you get the right image display that you need.

Hope that helps.

hi christian,
