Full width image within a column

I am searching for a way to get a particular column to span 100% of the page so that I can have an image container within that column also span the width.

I added the CSS to the page’s css, but nothing changed (I am not smart when it comes to CSS, so I have no idea what it means).

The image is the only one on the page, so it shouldn’t be hard to decipher what I am trying to do. Ultimately, I want to clip the image top to bottom based on the scaling left to right to achieve this effect. Any help?

Thank you for the very detailed post information.

To accomplish what you have in mind, please disable the maximum width in your image setting. It must be set as 100% instead.
