Freshly created revolution slider not loading on English version

Hi there

I am trying to install a copy of our German Revolution Slider (main language, slider name: “slider_aufmacher”) on our English startpage (3rd language, slider name: “slider_aufmacher_EN”). I am doing this to make changes on the the English slider text.

But it does not work. Instead i get an error message (pls see screenshots attached):

Would you mind taking a look at this? Here’s the page it concerns: https://www.morga.ch/en/

Kind Regards,
Lypa

Hi Lypa,

Thanks for reaching out.

I can see that but I’m not sure what’s the cause, would you mind providing your admin login credentials in the secure note? Maybe it’s due to translation and it switches the saved data as well.

Thanks!

thanks for helping. just added the secure info. thx lypa

Hey @lypa,

There seems to be a conflict with Slider Revolution, WPML and X’s x_get_slider_shortcode function. Regretfully, since this requires WPML which is a third party plugin, we could not test this in our staging sites to check further.

I’ll post this in our issue tracker so our development team would be made aware but for now the setup that will work for your site is to place the slider in the content.

Thanks.

Hi Christian

Thank you for helping and providing the code. Hmmm… when i look at the slider in the front end and how it renders now, i think working with a slider copy for English might not be the right thing for us, because all custom styling of the slider seems to have been lost on the way and this can not be the solution for our initial goal – a simple text change:

I know that this probably not coming from your code, but a problem of copying the original slider (“slider_aufmacher”).

Why did i copy the slider? Because i tried to change the English translation in the original slider, and it showed no effect (the English text change appeared in the backend and in the slider preview, but not in the front end), here are the screenshots:

WPML then recommended to make a copy of the original slider and use it a the English translation.

Maybe you know about this phenomenon and know a better solution?

I mean, i just would like to change a few words in the English text layer of the slider, and i don not want to make a copy and re-construct all the slider styling etc for that.

Would you mind taking another look at that?

Thank you,
lypa

Hello Lypa,

Since you have installed a caching plugin WP Rocket, please clear your plugin cache for all the languages before testing your site. This can cause the changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

Hope this helps.

Hi RueNel

Thank you very much for your help, This was it! Emptied all caches and now i can use our original slider and the translation is showing. Did not think of de-activating the caching plugin, because it was just a minor text change i thought… ;).

Thanks again,
lypa

You’re most welcome!
