Fonts - body copy and heading

On our website in the Theme Options - Typography, I set:

  • enable font manager: ON
  • Body Font => Body copy. / 300-book / black color
  • Headings => Headings / 300-Book / blue color

In the Preferences I set:

  • Body Copy => Roboto. / 300-Book
  • Headings => Roboto Condensed / 300-Book

When I create a new Section and put the element:

  • Text in there (text as paragraph), it is always set to: Font familie: Inherit and Font weight: 400 (not the correct one)
  • Headline in there (text as H1), it is always set to: Font familie: Inherit and Font weight 400 - black… (not the correct one)

What do I do wrong? It would be so great if the text was set in the preferences I gave it.

And is it possible to set the Headings to 2rem as a standard?

Thanks for you help / info in advance.

Hey Liesbeth,

Can you try out using the Element Defaults feature of the Template Manager.

That means you set up the Text and Headline elements first with the Font Family and Font Weight that you want then save them as defaults so the next time you add those elements, the new defaults will apply.

Hope that helps.

Hi Christian, Thanks - that is an option indeed.

But I was wondering why to put these information in the Typography Theme Option …

… when it does not work… Or is there something that I do wrong?

regards.

Hi Liesbeth,

The Typography values apply to the elements, which can’t be changed using the Content Builder, like the Header, Content font, sizes, and colors for Blog Posts, Archive Pages, and other index pages.
Also, these values will affect the widgets, site links.
And all elements you are referring, have the options to set the new or default values and can be changed using the Content Builder.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your explanation. I understand it now.
So when I use a new element in the content builder, it always starts with ‘inherit’. And this is (in case of my website) Roboto.
But why does ‘inherit’ always say: 400 - while I use 300 as my font type?
Can that be changed in some way (that ‘inherit’ is Roboto 300). That will save me al lot of time.`

I think that would be a great option to have.

Thanks

Hey Liesbeth,

The element settings has the highest priority over the settings in the theme options, anything set in the element settings will override the theme options settings. Currently there is no global option to override or change the initial element settings.

You’ll need to change it via element settings for each of your element. You probably can override with custom CSS which is regretfully outside of our support scope (this probably might help you in getting started Heading settings (h1, h2, h3, etc?)).

Thank you for understanding!

Thanks for your answer.

Have a great day!
Liesbeth
