Font size control is a complete mystery

Guys, what is up with font size control. I’ve read a bunch of your articles and 3 different forum threads and on this and I still have NO IDEA how font sizing controls are supposed to work. Here’s the current laughable output of my tinkering with the ‘root font size’ module:

I’m not looking for something wacky here - normal sized headings and text is all I’m after. Instead I have gigantic headings and undersized text.

First question - does the Root Font Size module actually control headings? I’ve adjusted the EM values like a dozen times and my headings are ENORMOUS.

Second question - what are “normal presets”? I’m not assigning fonts differently in ANY WAY here.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for reaching out.
It is not very clear what default size is set to the font and what font size is implemented in the Heading shown in the screenshot. Sometimes it happens due to the cache, I would suggest you check once by clearing all types of cache including the System Cache from Cornerstone > Settings > System > Clear System Cache and check in the incognito/private mode of the browser.

If that does not help, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

EDIT - think I may have a handle on why it’s acting up. The heading element had a custom CSS class it had gotten somewhere that was taking precedent. The class was “h-custom-headline accent resp-h”.

Hey Chris,

We’re glad that you’re able to figure it out.

Thank you for your help, but unfortunately I’m not out of the woods. It seems I’ve mixed together two templates(?) that don’t play well together, which I think was the cause of that error. Further complications - there are four sections all starting with “resp-” at the bottom of my page that I’m not allowed to edit, but create a physical section at the bottom of my page with template copy.

I could edit this file with a text editor and try to remove these sections, but I’m going to ask you guys first if there’s a better way. I’d rather not hork this up further.

Hey Chris,

Those elements labeled as resp- are the Responsive Text option feature in the old version which is already deprecated in the latest version. It is disabled by default. To delete this, do the following:
1.) Go to Settings > Cornerstone > Permissions > Elements and find the “Responsive Text”.

2.) Enable it and save your changes.
3.) Go back to the page you are editing in the builder to delete it

Hope this makes sense.

That made perfect sense @ruenel and I was able to delete those h-resp sections, but unfortunately I still have the content section at the bottom of my page above the footer that does not appear in my ‘sections’ menu and currently cannot be removed. Screenshot shows the section.

Hey Chris,

As for your Footer, go to Cornerstone > Theme Options > Footers and select “None” for the Widget Areas.

Cheers.

Woah - that is confusing as hell (how is that section a footer??), but thank you for the help!

Huge thank you @ruenel and Theme.co staff and support - you guys are awesome!

Just want to give you an idea that in the Theme Options, there is the Headers and Footers settings that you can tweak the the default header and footer of the theme.

You are most welcome, Chris.
