Font color in Text and Headline element won't inherit

When I change the color of font in Typography in Theme Options, it doesn’t change my default font color in the element Text and Headline. Is there a way to make it do this? But still retain the ability to change the individual elements font color when I need to.

Hi @danwedin,

Thanks for reaching out!

Are you referring to this option?

That option change the default color headline element. If it doesn’t work on your end, please make sure that your theme and plugins are up to date.

Hope that helps and let us know how it goes.

Ok yes everything is up to date.

For the Classic Headline Element, the theme headings color setting works on this page:

The Classic Headline Elements color settings for this headline are empty, so it makes sense its inheriting the theme settings.

For this one, its not working but the Classic Headline Elements color settings are set to black, so that makes sense too.

My question is then, how can I remove the color setting for the Classic Headline Element on this page? I try but it won’t stay blank.

And on both pages the “Text” element is set to black and I can’t remove that either even though under Text / Format / Font it is set to inherit.

Thank you for your help.

Hello @danwedin,

Please understand that all Classic elements will depend on the Theme Options settings. Any color changes in the Theme Options in Typography > Body and Content, Typography > Headings, and in Typography > Site Links, will change the colors of the Classic Headline element.

Keep in mind that the new Text and Headline elements has its own default styling. You cannot remove the styling of these elements. You will really have to assigned a color because these elements will not inherit the styling of the Theme Options.

Hope this makes sense.

ok got it, thank you.
