Font awesome icons showing up as blank blocks

Font awesome icons on homepage and elsewhere began showing up as ugly blank square blocks.
I do not know whether this is related to the recent Pro update or not.
I turned off all plugins, didn’t help.
Quick fix was to turn off the font awesome icons from Cornerstone miscellaneous so site became presentable with those blank squares gone.
First help would be if there could be some solution to the font awesome issue.
Second, I would like to move from font awesome to local custom svg icons, which I hope won’t be as fickle. Any pointers on how to do that would also help, if it doesn’t increase webpage load times.

Thanks for reaching out.
It mostly happens due to the Font Awesome options being disabled from Theme Options > Miscellaneous, but it seems that in your case it was already enabled.
I would suggest you enable the option once again and check. If that persists, there might be some different reasons behind your reason, I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Theme Update related issue
3.Child Theme Related issue ** if you have activated it
4.CSS/JS Customization
5.Disabling Cache
6.Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above helps and you are still getting the issue, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password
