Fix "Read More"

Hi,

Can you help me figure out how to add either “…” or “read more” to post excerpts.

I currently have meta on and set to 30 words and excerpts are pulled from the beginning of the article, I do not want this and would prefer for either:

A) to pull from a manual excerpt I have written that exceeds 30 words and have it show “read more” or “…” OR
B) to choose from the article what is shown in the excerpt.

Please see photos for the difference between the excerpt when its pulled from the article w/ no excerpt written versus the excerpt from the manual excerpt.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Thanks for writing in! Please be advised that the Auto Excerpt will be taken from the first 30 words in your post content. As soon as you insert a manual excerpt, it will display the Manual Excerpt instead. It is recommended that you limit your manual excerpt since you have added it manually because WordPress will not pull the first 30 words from the manual excerpt. Manual excerpts are custom excerpts which means that you will have to make it short and concise.
