Filterable Gallery with sorting animation

Hi there!

I am trying to create a filterable gallery using Envira, just like the demo on this page: https://enviragallery.com/album/album-with-tagged-galleries/

We have a premium account and I have successfully done this in the past, but Envira has changed enough settings in their gallery plugin that I just cannot figure out how to get it to work correctly now. I’ve tried creating standalone galleries and albums, and so far here are the roadblocks I need to overcome:

  1. Gallery doesn’t display all of my Category/Tag filter options (currently only showing ‘All’ and ‘Community’)

  2. When a filter is clicked it does not sort that tag/category

  3. I would also like the images to have some basic CSS animations, but it appears that Envira has deprecated that feature? I don’t want anything crazy, just a little hover interaction to let the user know images are clickable.

Here is the page in question: https://kandgcontractors.com/commercial-projects/

I will provide credentials securely too.

Thank you!

Hello Nuera,

Thanks for writing in!

Please try setting up the filterable gallery in Envira by following the tutorial published in Envira Gallery website:

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Thanks Prasant - I’ve already been through it a few times unfortunately and I can’t determine what I’m doing wrong.

I’m getting a little lost around the part where I have to create a separate album because when I post the shortcode to the album the gallery doesn’t work at all.

Hello Nuera,

Thanks for updating the thread.

I ave resolved the issue of tags and gallery. After that I created a new test page (Test Gallery) and then added Classic Envira Gallery element in the same. Now the gallery and complete tags are showing up and working fine. Please see screenshot in secure note.

Thanks.

Hey Prasant - thanks so much for your help!

So just referencing the gallery page itself (https://kandgcontractors.com/commercial-projects/) the filters look right, but are currently not functional for me. If you click the filters it doesn’t sort the gallery, it instead sends you deeper into the test page you created.

I’ll circle back to the sorting/hover animations after we’ve resolved this piece.

Really appreciate your assistance!

Hi @Nuera,

Unfortunately, tag filters don’t work the same as Envira Gallery filter. It just display buttons to direct you to the page where it’s filtered. How about using Essential Grid or The Grid plugin?

Thanks!

Oh we’ve successfully achieved it in the past (e.g.: http://www.mbs-corp.com/gallery/)

You can also see an example of what we’re trying to achieve in my original post on the Envira site.

I just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong… :frowning:

Hi @Nuera,

That one has javascript and I’m not sure if it’s custom or built-in, could you try the same version used from that site?

Given the URL of the filter, it’s only normal for it to link or direct you to the page, but yes, it can be overriden by javascript. I checked on my installation and it’s linking too, perhaps it’s custom or the newer version doesn’t have it? I’ll continue checking.

Thanks!

Hey Rad,

I wanted to check back in with you on this (sorry was travelling).

So I can’t use the same version of the Envira plugin as the old site because that was built a number of years ago and I’m sure it wouldn’t be prudent to use such an outdated version of the plugin.

That other site does not have any additional JS code in it, so I’m next to positive that it was included in the plugin itself.

I guess I’d be ok with scrapping this entire direction in favor of a different plugin, but I feel like this should be acheivable, especially considering the plugin claims to suppor the functionality.

Thanks!

Hi @Nuera,

The javascript is coming from tag addons which isn’t installed from your site. So yes, by default, the filters will only work as a link as I claimed before. You would need an addon to convert the linking to in-page filtering.

Please follow the instruction provided from here https://enviragallery.com/docs/how-to-create-a-filterable-album/, I checked and not installed on your site. Though, by doing that, you’ll need to buy a license directly from them and it’s something we can’t control or bypass.

Thanks!
