Featured image is removed and replaced with first post image

Hi,

Since doing an update recently I am having problems with my featured image. I set my featured image and it takes this as the first image in the post like it’s supposed to (it also adds it as a page background, which it’s supposed to). However, if I then add an image within the post, it removes the featured image and makes that post image the featured image (and page background image) instead!

Why is this happening?

Cheers,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

I checked your site but can’t find the issue. Can you provide us the specific post where we can see it.

In renew stack, when you set a featured image. It will be displayed as the first image under the post title.
But it will not be set as a background image.

You will be able to see how it works in renew demo page

Thanks

I’ve left a secure note with an example page…

Hi @demonboy,

I couldn’t replicate this issue on my local installation.

Please follow up the steps below:

  1. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  2. Switch to the parent theme to check if the issue persists.
  3. Roll back to WordPress 5.1.1: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/

Let us know how it goes!

How could you not replicate it? You just add another image to the post, save it and it removes the featured image.

No new plugins have been installed and this was working fine before the X upgrade.

Hi @demonboy,

It seems the Quick Featured Images plugin was causing the issue.

I’ve disabled it and the featured image is working fine now.

Cheers!

OK, that’s great, thank you.

You’re welcome. Please do test for plugin conflict first next time as mentioned in How to Get Support.

Yes, I feel embarrassed about that

No worries. Have a great day!
