Featured Image Duplicated in Yoast Sitemaps

I have a Wordpress site using X Theme v9.1.4 and Cornerstone v6.1.4

I also use Yoast SEO v19.13 and Yoast SEO Premium v19.6

Site is https://www.bellafsm.com

I have used X Theme, Cornerstone and Yoast for several years on this site and continue to have issues with images.

The Yoast generated post and page sitemap duplicate the featured image. Here is an example of a post I published today:

I have the following css in theme options to prevent the featured image to display at the top of the page:

.page .entry-featured {display:none;}
.single-post .entry-featured {display:none;}

I have tried deactivating other plugins and narrowed it down to the issue being with X and Cornerstone. I have other sites that use Yoast and a different theme which do not have this issue.

Please advise what I can do to fix this issue.

Best regards

Hey @jnlinn,

I have replicated the issue so this looks like a bug. This can’t be fixed using CSS as CSS is unrelated. Yoast detects 2 images in our themes.

The cause of this is currently unknown but I’ve posted this case in our issue tracker so this will be queued to be investigated by our development team.

Please stay tune for updates.

Thanks.

Hi @christian,

Thank you for the quick response. I am surprised I am the only person who has found this issue. How quickly do you think it may get resolved?

A similar issue with images in the sitemap I wanted to include is, posts images are being duplicated (repeated) from the post’s images directly above it in the sitemap (in addition to the correct images for the post) Here is an example:

Are you able to replicate this issue?

This is impacting my SEO due to so many duplicate images which are not getting indexed.

Please advise.

Best regards

Hi @jnlinn,

My colleague has already reported the issue to the Issue Tracker for further investigation, but unfortunately, we don’t have any specific ETA on this.

Thanks
