Hi team, I’ve been trying to replace my featured image of my blog posts but it is still showing the old image. My images are being cropped on Facebook posts. Please assist. Thanks
Hi There,
Upon checking your website, I could see that you’re using the W3 Total Cache plugin.
Did you try clearing all the caches?
Regards!
Yes I did…it still isn’t replacing. Should I disable the plugin?
Yes please do that and check. Also, purge all server cache too.
Thanks.
OK deactivated plugin, purged all cache. It’s replacing the image on the Blog page but when I post the link on facebook, it still shows the old image.
Hi there,
Would you mind providing the login details of your site in a Secure Note so that we can check?
Thank you.
Hi included here
Hi There,
Thanks for sending us the details!
I tried positing several post in facebook and it taking the right image as in your posts.
I didn’t see any other image coming in facebook post other tan the post image.
Here is screenshot for facebook posts. Please try to clear your browser cache and re check.
Thanks
Still showing the old image
I’ve attached here the updated image which is correctly showing on my blog page and the ‘old’ image which is showing on facebook when I post.
The images are the same, but the dimensions are different. The old dimensions are causing the image to be cropped when I post. I’m trying to understand why the new images with new dimensions are not showing when I post the link on facebook.
Hi There,
the Best way to solve this problem is through Yoast SEO plugin that you are already using in your website.
Explicitly Tell Facebook To Use Thumbnail of Your Choice
If you are using WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin, then you can easily set a specific thumbnail image for Facebook.
When writing a post, scroll down to Yost SEO meta box below the post editor and then click on the social tab. There you will see a button to upload a thumbnail image for Facebook.
Simply add your Facebook Thumbnail image there, and this will fix the issue in most cases.
Hope that helps.
Thanks
I’m using the Social Warfare plugin. Shouldn’t it use the image from there on facebook?
Also, just tried what you said to add the facebook thumbnail image and it’s still not working. I cleared cache, refreshed and it’s still posting the old image.
Hi there,
It seem that the image you set is being retrieved correctly but is cropped because of its dimensions.
Try cropping the image to 1200 by 630 pixels.
Then you can use this Facebook Debugging tool to check.
Hi Jade, I had updated with new dimensions but it was still posting the old pic with incorrect dimensions. I ran the debug, purged caches and it’s now working slight_smile:Thanks so much!!
You’re welcome
