I do appreciate the ambitiousness of CS Forms to go far beyond the capabilities of existing form software, but I am surprised that TC didn’t start with simply perfecting what other form software does poorly (e.g., design) before branching out with all the other cool things it can do. As it is, I simply can’t use CS Forms in its current state for my forms because it lacks critical functionality. A few things:
Conditionals on fields: there are no conditionals based on other form inputs. For example, I might have a date picker field, but I only want it to appear if an answer to another question like “do you need items by a certain date” answer is “yes.” I know someone has already built an add-on to do this kind of thing, but IMO it should be native.
Advanced conditionals: When a form contains a “sign up for my mailing list?” field as part of a larger form that is more than about signing up, I need to be able to run an integration with my ESP only when the answer to that question is yes. I can do this in WP Forms. I can even send different confirmation emails based on what the respondent answered to different questions. It’s a very key part of personalizing responses and really connecting with respondents.
Email notifications to respondents: in sending an email to a respondent, I need to be able to isolate and return specific field data like “Dear < < first name > >” (if there’s a way to do that, I didn’t see it in the docs or videos). And I know TC is not in the email formatting biz, but that’s a basic and critical piece of form software that’s missing from CS Forms. Even a very basic email formatter would be helpful.
Email notifications to me: At the very least, I want a single command to return all the form data in an organized format. At the moment, all I would be able to do is alert myself to go log in and see the user’s form response.
