Feature Request: Responsive Editing

Hey all, I love Themeco and have been with you guys since mid-2014. Recently a client asked me to look at Divi. It’s been 2-3 years since I even visited their site, as I truly love Pro. However, something caught my eye that I’ve been dreaming to see Themeco implement for years…

Responsive Editing is HUGE. It is undoubtedly the most difficult aspect of working with Pro currently. The Content/Header/Footer Builders are absolutely incredible, and I think are at the cutting edge of what is available. However, responsive design seems to have always been a weak spot with X and Pro. I do know you have the Bar on the left side of the screen, where we can view the site from five different breakpoints. That’s a start (though even that feature could certainly be fleshed out to a greater degree), but that’s not really what I’m talking about. What I’m talking about is the ability to apply different settings to the same text, element, column, section, whatever, based on various breakpoints. Here’s a video of Divi’s feature in action.

Now, admittedly, they’re taking a rather simplistic approach to it that probably is only usable for a few specific aspects of the page (i.e. not every element/section/row/column/whatever of their builder can probably be edited in this way). I honestly don’t know, as I don’t use Divi. Another big concession is that I know responsive is probably one of the hardest aspects of web design to tackle from a systematic perspective that can be applied across a million different possible implementations by hundreds of thousands of different developers. I can’t imagine the gargantuan undertaking this would be, and I can certainly believe you’ve already been thinking about it. The main point of this post is to let you know I’ve been thinking about it, too. Lol. So for whoever’s reading this, please consider this another upvote for responsive editing as a feature request from the community. It truly is the biggest sticking point of building with Pro.

I’d like to clarify that even with Divi’s seemingly simplistic implementation, I’d still prefer that at least as a starting point. Responsive text and white space are certainly two of the most commonly-customized aspects of the responsive process, so Divi did hit the nail on the head by enabling responsive editing of those two things.

Having said all that, I would like to take a moment to say that Pro is the best tool that has happened to my business since moving to WordPress in 2011. It is a transformational product that has completely revolutionized the way I build websites, and (like many others say) I literally turn down work if the client isn’t willing to use Pro. Fortunately most of my clients don’t care what tools I use. Lol. So please don’t think I’m a dissatisfied customer. I believe I’ll be with Themeco for a long time.

Thanks for everything!

Hello Philip,

Thanks for the good words and sharing the feedback.

Responsive editing is there in our issue tracker and our developers are taking a look at the same. However, at this time I am not in the position to share an ETA for the same. However, you can keep an eye on our changelog page for latest updates:

Thanks.
