Hey Themeco ledgends… some ideas:
Would love to be able to format heading and text elements with extra options to control the background (eg. a color or image for example) more extensively and independently of the text within the element…
It’s a pretty common effect these days to highlight text with a colored background but the background is either bigger or smaller than the text it’s behind, and to offset it (up and left, starting half way down the text letter and extending out below)
eg. if you added :
Background margin (top, bottom, left, right) - allowing the background to offset (while not messing up the line height)
eg. -20px to pull the background down behind the text content
Background padding (top, bottom, left, right) - allowing the background to effectively be a different size than the heading or text element it belongs to (leaving transparency where the padding is)
eg. background top-padding of 0.5em top in an element of 1.5em line height would mean we could have a background that is 2/3 the height of the rest of the element (eg. the text content)
… this would be super useful.
Background border and Background Radius controls (independent of the main element) would also be useful.
Applying Effects / Transitions / Animating element backgrounds (header element at least?) independently of the main element content / text would also be super cool… dreaming ?
(Don’t need them per screen breakpoint)
I know it’s all technically currently possible with layered divs and some trickery but is tedious and not responsively reliable… and hard to get text to line up properly when for example trying to highlight (eg. with a colored and offset background) some text within sentence.
thoughts?
Cheers
Simon
