Feature request for numbered icons

For the past 4 years i’ve tracked down feature requests of people wanting numbers as icons. Has there been any development on this? any idea what the pm’s said about this request? Is it something that is going to get done? i understand the css to replace them but i’m wondering if this might be stock.

I suggest you to take a look at Classic feature list element that has Number Icon feature.
