@5foldmarketing, just wanted to chime in on this one. I can see this being a nice idea in theory, however one of the more practical aspects we need to take into account for each feature is a) how many people would use it and b) what would the user experience be like.
Starting with the experience, I could see this causing some problems for content writers specifically as limiting by character count would end up limiting them on what they may want to write from a copy standpoint. Since a lot of design and building out a site involves a certain amount of tinkering I think a hard limit on something as fundamental as character count might be a bit too restrictive. As a happy medium, I could see the designer putting in some holder text that was about the size they planned for the space and so the client/team member can get an idea of what amount of text can look good given the layout.
On the demand side, we’ll certainly monitor other feedback to see if there is more interest, however I think it could create some unintended consequences that may end up making the end user’s experience less than ideal. I could see it being a bit frustrating to try and make changes to a site only to find out I’m limited from being able to do so. Definitely one of those gray areas as I can certainly see a use for it in more narrow applications. We’ll kick it around but did want to pass on a couple quick thoughts.
