**fatal error** Slider Revolution

Hi!

This morning I tried to login to my WordPress dashboard but got an http error 500 message. My hosting company disabled all my plugins so I could login. I went through and reactivated them one by one and when I got to Slider Revolution, I got the following error message…

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error .

Fatal error : Uncaught Error: [] operator not supported for strings in /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/includes/framework/base-admin.class.php:71 Stack trace: #0 /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/admin/revslider-admin.class.php(450): RevSliderBaseAdmin::addMetaBox(‘Revolution Slid…’, ‘’, Array, NULL) #1 /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/admin/revslider-admin.class.php(72): RevSliderAdmin->addSliderMetaBox() #2 /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/admin/revslider-admin.class.php(44): RevSliderAdmin->init() #3 /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/revslider.php(163): RevSliderAdmin->__construct(’/home/ryanjames…’) #4 /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php(2223): include(’/home/ryanjames…’) #5 /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-admin/plugins.php(175): plugin_sandbox_scrape(‘revslider/revsl…’) #6 {main} thrown in /home/ryanjames/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/includes/framework/base-admin.class.php on line 71

Has anyone come across this before and how can it be fixed?

Thank you!

Hey @ludoh,

Thanks for writing in. There 2 issues in your site but I’d just clarify that none of the issues was caused by our products. It’s a lack of website maintenance that caused the issues. It’s the user’s responsibility to keep track of the product changes and test updates in a staging server before pushing the updates to a live site.

1. The Slider Revolution error is due to incompatibility of the old Slider Revolution version with PHP 7.2. I just like to clarify that this is not an issue with Slider Revolution per se. It’s just that software versions wasn’t taken into account by the website owner. Version compatibility is critical. I’ll post the solution below because the 2nd point is also important.

2. The reason why your license seem to not link to the site is that the X version is very old. We needed to improve the product validation and part of that is changing the system. It is very important that you keep track of the changes stated in our Changelog. You cannot update X automatically using the old version in your site so what you can do is perform a Manual Update. You can learn how to do that here: https://theme.co/docs/how-to-update

Before manually updating X, please uninstall Cornerstone first as after updating X, it will notify you to install the latest compatible Cornerstone version.

Hope that helps.
