Fatal Error: Modern Event Calendar

I keep receiving a fatal error message from Modern Events Calendar plugin when installing from the Pro Overview page inside wp-admin.

Could you kindly assist me in figuring out the problem?

Fatal error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in /var/www/wp-content/plugins/modern-events-calendar/app/libraries/envato.php on line 206

Here’s what I’ve done so far to try and fix it:

  • Manually deleted plugin via SSH cli
  • Re-installed MEC plugin
  • Re-installed Pro Theme
  • Invalidated and then re-validated my Pro license
  • Re-installed php5.6

I’m only installing the plugin via the Pro overview page and it keeps downloading MEC Version 2.5.0.

Thanks for writing around! It looks like the CURL extension ext/curl is not installed or enabled in your PHP installation. Check the manual http://de2.php.net/manual/en/curl.setup.php for information on how to install or enable CURL or you can contact your hosting provider to do this for you.

In case anyone else needs it, here are the commands for Ubuntu/Debian servers:

# for php 5.6
apt-get install php5.6-curl

# or for php 7.0
apt-get install php7.0-curl

systemctl restart apache2
