Website is DOWN.

  1. X now broke my site (after clicking a link to “update”
even though I believe I had just uploaded the latest version - and that was working.) - That Update link may have been the First Issue #1 !)
  2. After X broke (right after I clicked the update link), Now the X Addons page is now broken too, so I cannot download a copy of Cornerstone. (Issue, side effect #2)
I did not have Cornerstone plugin anymore.
  3. But found a very old copy of the plugins/cornerstone folder from a dev site backup and uploaded it.
But WP sais it is missing a stylesheet, and you say I do not have a license for it.
I tried entering my license for both X purchase, and Pro purchase (upgrade); neither work :frowning:

So I had to revert to an old theme to bring my website back online.

How can I:

  1. Download the latest Pro version (my envato account used to let me download Pro, now it only lets me download X. I purchased both.
(But I was an early purchaser of both, and I think Pro was an upgrade purchase to my X purchase.)
  2. Why did the “upgrade” link in WP dashboard download v4.something? I thought X and Pro were at version 3 and 7. (3.2.3 and 7.2.3 specifically, if I remember correctly.
  3. Why did the update now fatally take my site offline?
  4. How can I download Cornerstone (with stylesheet and with license activation)?
It seems that Cornerstone is now causing website to break. Although, until I “updated”, I think it worked even if Cornerstone was not installed or activated on my website?

I had deleted Cornerstone (I had quit working on customizing Pro and/or X a couple years ago when dev computer broke and lost my dev server, plus it was overwhelming at the time and I liked the old theme anyway).

So I guess I needed Cornerstone theme re-installed.
But after I clicked the link to “update” X, now X and the page to download the included plugins is broken. (weird b/c the link said the latest was 4.2.3 or something like that, but I thought the latest versions of X and Pro were 7.2.3 and 3.2.3).
Also, I think that the X theme BROKE after I clicked that link…

I went to envato to see if I could download Cornerstone, but it is not possible, without purchasing a new Cornerstone license ($19), independent of my X and Pro upgrade licenses ($29+$79).

So, After searching archives, I found a copy of Cornerstone theme from an old backup on an old backup copy of my website, when I first installed X.
(unfortunately I do no have a copy of the dev site where I did most of my X or Pro builder work, so I mostly have to start over, sadly.)

I uploaded that to the server, but it says I have no license.
So Cornerstone cannot be activated.
So whether I try to activate Pro or try to activate X, my website has a Fatal Error.
Website is broken, because Cornerstone won’t validate or is missing a stylesheet, therefore neither X nor Pro can be used.

Of course, I purchased X and then Pro (before you even finished writing it - hence it was a bit more limited and frustrating to customize than it would be now) for the purpose of upgrading an old theme (which I really like). I wound up just upgrading it on my own to keep it working and to add mobile responsive support, and creating a customized child version on top of that.
But with WP 5.5 removing jQuery Migration (I since found a plugin to add it back), I once again am motivated to finish. I had manually upgraded everything except jQuery.browser. I can see that is easy enough to do, but still it is old and relies on jQuery, and yes, not it is time to just replace it altogether.
Hence reinstalling X and/or Pro.

I tried entering both my license for X and my license for Pro, but both were invalid.
Then I noticed on my Plugins page that there is a warning that Cornerstone has no style.css! No stylesheet, so it is broken.

How Can I get Cornerstone (and whatever other X/Pro plugins that I may have used previously) properly installed/validated so I use X and/or Pro?

Aka, how do I fix the issue with X and Pro causing a fatal error on the front end, and enough of an error on the back end that X and Pro backend pages are also broken (cannot install the included plugins from their interface.)

Separate but related question. Where/How do I download Pro??
My account shows only X. But the license entered shows that it is for Pro. But the link only downloads X. This is super confusing.

PS I found an old copy of Pro theme, downloaded from my account on envato in 2017. So I uploaded that, and it is having the same issues as X.
However, my envato and theme account now only lets me download a copy of X.
But I PAID to get Pro, after initially paying for X.
Why can I no longer download Pro?
Everything here is confusing.
And neither theme and none of the included plugins work.

What to do, How to fix?

Hi @ionrane,

Thanks for reaching out.

Please find the answer to your queries below:

  1. Download the latest Pro version (my Envato account used to let me download Pro, now it only lets me download X. I purchased both. (But I was an early purchaser of both, and I think Pro was an upgrade purchase to my X purchase.)
    – For Pro you can get the updated version from your Themeco account, and the latest version of the X can be downloaded from your Envato account.

  2. Why did the “upgrade” link in the WP dashboard download v4.something? I thought X and Pro were at version 3 and 7. (3.2.3 and 7.2.3 specifically, if I remember correctly.
    – That might be for some other extensions or other themes and not related to the X and Pro.

  3. Why did the update now fatally take my site offline?
    – Though we understand that this happened after you updated, this only happened on your end and not for us and other users. That said, there could be something in your WordPress and/or server setup that conflicted with X.

  4. How can I download Cornerstone (with the stylesheet and with license activation)?
Cornerstone is an inbuilt part of the Pro, so you don’t need to download it separately.

  5. It seems that Cornerstone is now causing the website to break. Although, until I “updated”, I think it worked even if Cornerstone was not installed or activated on my website?
    – In that case, I would suggest you to deactivate the Cornerstone plugin from wp-admin or rename the Cornerstone folder at wp-content/plugins from FTP or CPanel.

I would suggest you to follow the below setps to update the theme manually:

1. Activate another theme

2. Delete the `Pro`

3. Upload the updated version of `Pro` and activate.
