On my site, bike-together.com, when I click on the Instagram social icon while using my iPhone, it opens the Instagram application.
When I click on the Facebook social icon, it just opens the web page in the browser. It doesn’t actually make it open in Facebook.
Any ideas why one works and the other doesn’t? Is the same in both Safari and Chrome on my iOS device.

What Facebook doesn’t appear to have implemented yet is checking if you’ve downloaded their app and offering that “Open” button from within Browser/Safari, as opposed to (or in addition to) the App Store. Twitter has this, along with a number of other sites/apps like instagram.
Perhaps Facebook is working on it.
