Extensions data not saved on update

Hi,

I just made a manual update to extensions - Under construction and White Label. The ChangeLog mentions that data will be saved and won’t have to re-entered on updating. I followed the manual update method and all data such as background image, title, subtitle, date… etc all was gone. Not a biggy but just letting you know that the changelog statements are incorrect.

Thanks for the update.

Hi there @dshakya,

Sorry about that! Appreciate you letting us know, all data should have been ported over automatically. We’ll look into this and get a patch out ASAP.

Thanks!

Hi @dshakya,

To understand what’s happening on your end we need a full backup to simulate on our test environment.

You can create that using https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/ and send a link to the generated file using a Secure Note.

In the meantime, if you didn’t exclude X - Under Construction and X - White Label, you can deactive the new versions and activate the old ones. Data is not erased from the datatabase.

Thanks!

I don’t think I am able to send the full site back-up.

What do you mean when you say -

In the meantime, if you didn’t exclude X - Under Construction and X - White Label, you can deactive the new versions and activate the old ones. Data is not erased from the datatabase.

How do I get the old ones back? I have already deactivated and deleted the old one as mentioned in the changelog.

Hey, @dshakya,

To be able to understand and fix your data, I need access to your database (specifically wp-options table).

Could send link/credentials to do that together with Wordpress credentials?

Please be sure to use Secure Note (the little key icon) so only our Staff can see.

Thanks!

Please see my previous thread.

Thanks for the update!

I uploaded the old version of the plugins to your site, so you can revert back if you want (deactivate new one, activate new one).

I also noticed you already setup Under Construction / White Label on the new version and they are both working fine. I strongly suggest to you to keep the new versions as the old ones won’t be updated anymore.

Thanks!

I did set up the new ones. But when I updated the old one, none of the old settings were preserved. I had to manually set the new settings. I just wanted to let you know that when you deactivate and delete old plugin, the settings are not saved in the DB as mentioned in the changelog document.

I am a bit confused now. I followed the same procedure for updating the extensions in another site of mine. DB entries/settings were lost as before but this time when I re-install the extensions - they appear under the X Menu rather than Settings tab.

Where should the extensions be listed with the update?

Just a little heads up: on 2.0.1 update we reverted back the menu position, so for X users will be on X menu - sorry for your confusion. When you update on the other site will

Thanks again for the heads up about data migration error, we’re testing around to check what cases are causing this issue.

Have a great day!

Does this when I update again, I will have to set up all the extensions again? I am sorry but it is getting a bit inconvenient now.

The update to 2.0 needs migration, but next updates don’t.

So you don’t need to worry about setup again.

Thanks!

OK thanks.

You are most welcome.
