I am in X settings and every selection takes me to the login screen. The site has the initial page in the staging folder and most of the others are in a folder 2014 so this may be the cause but I can not change that. I am having the server team there look.
If it is not resolved I will ask you again.

Please try clearing the cache and see how it goes as in my test I am able to login, saved the permalink structure, opened page in Cornerstone and website is working fine. I am not getting logged out of the website.
Please confirm the issue and if possible please share some screenshots or screencasts so we can take a closer look.
