Estimation & Payment Forms not working correct when user has a local browser language

Hello,

I noticed that Estimation & Payment Forms is not working correctly when a user has local language settings in his browser. The total amount of the calculation becomes € 0.00 instead of the correct amount. See the 2 images below.

Normal situation where the user has English as language set:

Situation where the user has French set:

I can see that there might be issues when descriptions are internally used to handle calculations, but how can we tackle this for non-english clients?

Friendly regards

Hi Ruud,

Thanks for reaching out.
Sometimes the only screenshots do not help us to recognize the issue you are having. We need to examine your site to get the cause of the issue.
If that login is required to check your website, please provide credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

@tristup Login-in won’t help in this case. The 2nd printscreen is from a replied email that we have received back from a user that activated the calculation form via our website.

It is NOT in the source of the calc-form since when used in English all is working fine. The example is from a user with French settings, we have seen this happening before with Italian and also Spanish. So the issue is not form related since when the user has its browser set to English all works fine.

I was thinking perhaps the user has automatic translation activated via the browser, that could explain something. Still leaves how to tackle this issue…?

Hey Ruud,

For your next posts, please kindly post the URL of the page where we can see the issue so that we won’t have to look for it in your site so that will lower our response time which is good for all customers including you.

I’ve set my Chrome browser’s language to French but I didn’t the total price didn’t change.

This issue could be an issue in your customer’s computer only. Would you mind testing it yourself too? Switch your browser’s language to French.

If it works on your end, please have your customer clear the browser’s cache and temporarily deactivate all browser extensions if applicable.

Thanks.

Hello @christian,

Yes you are correct my appologies, this is the link: https://evolinestore.com/designtool/design-your-own-evoline-fliptop/

It is quite unlikely that it is only related to this customer since we had similar results in the past for Italian and Spanish users.

I just got an idea that these users might have installed a browser add-on to translate english by default in to their native language. I tested that for Spanish, but the calculation is still working perfectly…

So strange… any other suggestions?

Hey Ruud,

Regretfully, we could really not replicate the issue so we can’t do further investigation.

Moreover, since this is not happening on our end, this is an issue with the browser and/or browser addon of the users having this issue. With that said, please advise your users to temporarily deactivate all browser addons.

E&P only outputs the number. It’s the specific browser and/or browser addon that is incorrectly translating numbers or numbers with currency.

Please also try inserting €386,80 to the page and see ask your users if it will be translated to 0.00. If it does, this really is a browser and/or browser addon issue in which case, you need to ask them to reinstall the browser and remove the browser addon and rely on the browser’s language setting.

Thanks.

@christian Thanks for your insights.

The difficulty here is that these users are not (yet) customers. They can create a calculation at their will but do not have to finish off sending an email. Therefore it is not simple to find where exactly the issue is. Seemingly it is not E&P that is causing it.

Thanks everyone involved, I will keep an eye on this issue. When I find a cause/cure I will post it here.

You are most welcome.
