Essential Grid update, Wordpress 5.5, and Pro Theme

A notice has appeared in my Essential Grid (EG) main window indicating that I should upgrade to Essential Grid version 3.0+ or risk losing functionality in Wordpress 5.5. As a result, I have questions:

  1. Will Pro theme provide an updated version of EG that maintains functionality in WP5.5?
  2. Should I dump EG and switch to The Grid?
  3. If I purchase EG 3.0+, will it be compatible with Pro Theme?

This raises an issue that has been a concern of mine for a while now. I appreciate the addition of plug-ins to the Pro Theme, but I’m worried that my Pro theme will not keep them up to date, or that newer versions can break Pro Theme. It becomes risky to depend on Pro to do all this for me, but there is also the danger of breaking Pro by updating plugins on my own. What to do?

Hi @sigmadog,

Thanks for reaching out.

1.) Yes, Pro theme will provide an update version of Essential Grid and our developers are already aware of it, an automatic update to the Essential Grid will popup in your website when our developers already updated the Essential Grid to the latest version.

2.) This will depend on your choice

3.) We are currently testing the latest version of all plugins for compatibility with our theme and these will be released after it has passed our test. Please check the version compatibility page if the latest versions are already available.
Please note that the bundled plugin updates are separate from theme updates.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.
