Hi Dirk,

Thank you for writing in, what version is your Essential Grid? Please note that the latest supported version of Essential Grid is 3.0.12.

If the issue persists, please do the following:

  • Clear all the site caches ( plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache ) so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors. While you’re at it, please deactivate this caching feature while we tackle this issue.

  • Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If the issue did not resolve, please provide us step by step guide on how we can replicate.

Cheers,

Hello. I have seen that I am not the only one with this problem. You can’t add or change images with WP version 8.xx at the moment. I hope it gives an Update for Essential Grid. It is not a litte Problem. I saw too late that Essential Grid is not released for Wordpress 8.xx. I would like to recommend communicating information about unsupported plugins better or actively blocking an update to WP version 8 if built-in plugins are not compatible.

I think that would be a good idea:A function that checks the release of the built-in plugins before an update and warns clearly before an update. The Essential Grid does not support WP 8.xx, has simply not been communicated clearly enough in this case. The last warning / message on the Essential Grid website refers to WP version 5.5 A little old, right?

Hey Dirk,

Firstly, I believe you’re referring to PHP 8 and not WP 8. The latest version of WP is just 5.8. See the WordPress versions here https://wordpress.org/download/releases/

Thank you for sharing your idea of a feature. We’ll list that as a feature request so it might be taken into consideration for future developments. Just to let you know, there is no feature like that available in most if not all themes and plugins. It could be that it’s currently hard or impossible to implement which is why themes and plugins currently rely on documentation rather than a notification.

Would you mind detailing how we could replicate the issue so we could test it on our sites to confirm that there’s a conflict with PHP 8? This is not a guarantee we could provide a solution though. We’ll just confirm and report to the Essential Grid developers.

I understand your problem and frustration but for now, the only solution for your site is to revert from a backup. You can ask your web host if they can assist you with that assuming they back up your site.

If you don’t have a website backup, please kindly wait for the Essential Grid releases to see if it will fix the issue you described.

Also, it is strongly recommended that you test updates in a staging or test copy of your site. That is a best practice for website owners.

Thank you for understanding.

Yeah right, I mixed up the version numbers. It’s a problem with the current Wordpress 5.8.

It’s the same problem as:

I have make some screenshots:

Hi Dirk,

The problem you are referred to has been already reported to the Plugin Author by my colleague, but unfortunately, there is no news on this till now. I went ahead and added your complaint to that too.

Thanks
