Essential Grid not showing on desktop front end

Hi,

I have a question about how the plug-in essential grid works. I have been using this plugin for years, but recently the grid is no longer shown on the front end on various websites on desktop computers. On mobile it is working well. I tries to disable plugins like my W3 total cache plugin but that doesn’t help. I only see the spinner spinning.

Example (there is a grid under slider on homepage): https://bakkermeinders.nl/

Can you help me with this?

Hey Joep,

What your experiencing is likely a conflict with Slider Revolution. Please temporarily deactivate Slider Revolution and see if it that fixes the issue. If it does, edit the slider on your page. In the slider editor, open the Advanced setting and enable Put JS to Body option.

If that doesn’t help, the issue is likely caused by 3rd party plugins. Clearing and disabling the caching plugin is a good start but it’s not enough. Please kindly do the following troubleshooting procedures applicable to your issue.

  1. TESTING FOR PLUGIN CONFLICT
  2. VERSION COMPATIBILITY

Only if none of those suggestions help, please give us the following info in a Secure Note.

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for your response. I tried the steps, unfortunately it didn’t solve the problem.

I also tried adding on the grid as a ‘raw content’ block instead of an essential grid block. The strange thing is that the grid is not shown when I add an essential grid, not even when I add it as raw content, but it does show when I add them both one after the other. Then I get to see the grid, plus a spinner in the grid trying to open the second grid, see screenshots.

The funny thing is that I experience this problem with 3 different websites that have been online for quite some time. They are all up to date, but no plugins have been added recently.

I sent you the login details for this website in a secure note.

I hope you find the problem and let me know what caused it so I can fix it myself on the other websites.

Hey Joep,

I tried logging in using the credentials you posted but they seem incorrect. Please check and update us with the correct one.

Thanks.

Sorry, something went wrong adding the user. I have added and tested the user with identical data, you can now log in with it.

Greetings, Joep

Hey @bakkerijsupport,

The issue was due to Essential Grid’s own caching. I cleared the cache and disabled it and now your Essential Grid works. I’ve also deactivated W3 Total Cache while investigating. You might need to clear your browser’s cache.

When updating or if you need to change something on your site, please clear all caches and deactivate all optimizations.

Hope that helps.

Hey,

thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don’t see that the problem is solved. There are two essential grids on the homepage of the website in question, while the bottom one still only shows a spinner. When I remove one of the two grids (it doesn’t matter which one) I no longer see a grid but only a spinner. It doesn’t matter if I have W3 activated or not. So can you please investigate this topic even further?

joep

Hey Joep,

I see the issue persists when logged in and persisting if you log out which is an indicator that some cache hasn’t been cleared. You need to contact W3 Total Cache support to learn how to clear all caches in your site and also remove their plugin completely in your site at-least while the issue persists. This is not an issue with Essential Grid but rather a result of incorrect optimization of a website.

Not only that, you also need to clear your browser’s cache. because as you’ll see in the video I’ve recorded and posted in the secure note, that the issue doesn’t happen in incognito mode.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for the explanation, I’m going to dive into it.
