Essential Grid - Not allowing me to delete filters in a group

I have a grid that is completely finished, except for one issue.

In the “Nav-Filter-Sort Settings”, under “Filter Groups”, I am trying to delete two available filters/categories that are currently in the group. I looked up how to do this online, and it says to use the trash can icon one each category to do this. The only problem is that it’s not showing any trash can icon for me to click.

I have a screen shot attached. The categories I’m trying to delete are “Group Training” and “Post Template” but I don’t see a way to do that. How do I delete these?

Thanks for writing to us.

I would suggest you go to the essential grid —>Nav Filter Sort—>Click on the Plus Icon.

Now you need to select the categories that you want to display in the filter groups. Please have a look at the given screenshot below.

After selecting the category, you need to click on Save Changes.

This does not answer my question. I want to delete some of the filters I currently have in my list, not add more filters. How do I delete filters some of the existing filters?

When I click on the plus symbol, the filters I want to delete (underlined in red), are grayed out, and it does not allow me to select or deselect them. Here is a screenshot.

How do I delete these items?

Hello Laura,

I have investigated your issue. Regretfully, I found out that you cannot remove the Group Training and Post Template in the Filter. The plugin only allows you to add and does not have the ability to remove any selected filter. This is the limitation of the plugin. If you are not using the Filters, just uncheck it so that it will not display in the frontend display of the grid.

I would recommend that you create a new grid instead and only add the filter that is needed.

Are you telling me that I have to start over from scratch and rebuild the entire grid I already spent hours on, because filters can’t be removed from a list? I really don’t understand that.

This seems to be a glitch. I am able to remove the “Features” category if I want by deselecting it. And if I add other categories to the list, I can delete those by deselecting them too. But for some reason, three of the other categories can’t be removed. This doesn’t make sense to me. I am able to delete some but not others, thus it appears to be a bug and should be fixable.

Please escalate this issue to someone on your team who knows how to fix it.

I have stumbled across the solution. I figured out that if I wanted to change the grayed out categories, I needed to do that under the “Source” tab. A pretty simple solution actually. I have included a screenshot in case anyone else runs into this issue in the future.

I am a disappointed that no one on the themeco team knew their own product well enough to tell me the answer and instead told me that it simply couldn’t be done, or that I’d have to redo hours of work in order to get what I wanted. The essential grid documentation on this matter was also insufficient. Hopefully this can be improved going forward…

Please understand that the Essential Grid is a bundled plugin. This is not a product of Themeco. The Essential Grid plugin is created by ThemePunch which is a 3rd party developers. We only acquired a developer license for this plugin because a lot of users would love to use the grid features to their site. It would be painful for our X/Pro theme user to pay for another 3rd party license just to use this plugin which is why we have bundled this on the theme instead. Since the plugin is bundled, we handle the updates and some support as much as we can. Any lack of documentations, bugs or limitations of this bundled plugin is beyond our grasp. We apologize for that.

Anyways, we are glad that you have figure our a solution to the issue and we really appreciate for sharing how you were able to solve it.
