Essential Grid Issues

Hey guys,

I"m having some issues with the essential grid plugin. I’m using the plugin to display vimeo videos, and although the videos are added the same way, they display differently.

Any idea what might be causing that?

I just realized that if I change Grid Layout to “Masonry” I can get them to line up. But not with any other setting. Also, none of my skin works with the grid. Nothing happens. I’ve created grids like this before using Vimeo and not had any issues with the different skins. Have I messed up a setting or something else that would disable the skins?

Thanks!

Ann

Hello Ann,

Thank you for the very detailed post information. Please edit your grid and make sure that you have the same video ratio.

If you already set it, please play around with it by switching to 16:9 ratio and see how it goes.

I have tried that multiple times but still nothing happens. And the grid skin won’t work at all.

Hello There,

The grid skin has no issues at all. The problem is the videos. They have different video sizes. The original video sizes were different in dimensions. The first one is 4K and the other one is just 1080p. Please keep in mind that the grid will only rely on the dimensions supplied by Vimeo.

To know more how you can work with videos in Essential Grid, please check out this documentation:

Hope this helps.

My bad on the sizing!

How come no skin is working though?

Hey There,

According to the documentation, some of the pre-built video skins are the following:
HowardTaft
Herbet Hoover
McKinley

If you are using a different or custom skin, you may need to edit the skin.

Hope this helps.

Yup, I’m aware of that. However, neither of the prebuilt video skins work. The skins will add anything that’s outside the video but that’s it. Nothing “on top” of the video.

Hello There,

Thanks for updating in! After investigation, I found out that you are using a custom grid. You have supplied the Vimeo and that’s it. No other information will be displayed because it is not a post. Please create a post and the video and other details in it. Having it a post will allow you to display other information like date, category and descriptions.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Ohhhh! Darn it! All my fault then.

Sorry about that and thanks for your help!

Best,
Ann

Glad to hear we managed to help!

Cheers
