Essential Grid is missing skins

Hi there, I have several copies of the Pro licence and the Essential Grid plugin is not consistent for them. I have fewer Skins in one of them.

View of available Essential Grid Skins from one of my Pro licences:

View of available Essential Grid Skins from one of my other Pro licences:

As you can see, I only have 2 pages of stuff in the second install.

I need to have all of the other Skin options and I don’t understand why these are different since I purchased the exact same license.

Thank you

Hello @artthescience,

Thanks for writing in! Please be advised that the skins will be depending on the Grid layout you have selected in the Grid Settings. Not all skins can be applied to Even, Masonry or Cobbles.

If you just installed the latest version of the plugin, you will only have 11 skins. Some of the skins may only be exclusively available if you have purchased a separate plugin license.

If in your other site has several skins of more than 11 skins, you can always export it and import it to your other site in Ess. Grid > Import/Export.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Thank you for the reply. This does not help because it is not my issue. I seem to have a limited number of skins available. I am missing 5 pages worth in any setting. The installations are identical, Wordpress is up to date and Pro themes are updated. Here are the views for “masonry” setting for instance:

Install 1:

Install 2:

There is a difference in the number of skins available in each install even though the Essential Grid versions are identical and the Pro themes and Wordpress are up to date. The only difference is that I activated the plugin with a lot of skin options (Install 2) over a year ago and the one with only a few skins (Install 1) today. Did you change your terms with them? I heavily rely on this plug-in as part of this theme so I will need the version I have in Install 2 made available.

Thank you very much.

Hello @artthescience,

Please understand that we are not the creators of Essential Plugin. It is bundled in the theme. We only rely on the plugin features and bug fixes from its creator. Any change of policies in the plugin is way beyond the theme. As I’ve said in my previous post, some of the skins may only be available if you will purchase a separate plugin license to unlock all the features of the plugin.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. This does not help me because we are still not addressing my issue.

I did not purchase anything from Essential Grid creators (Themepunch). I purchased 2 Pro Theme licenses from you. I then installed the Essential Grid plug-in for each Pro Theme license through the “Pro” menu option in Dashboard.

The skins available to me are NOT THE SAME for these two installs, but everything else is. The only difference is that I installed one about a year ago, and the other one today.

I welcome your thoughts on how to fix my issue.

Thank you

Hello @artthescience,

You have purchased Pro theme license. In the theme, we have bundled Essential Grid. Any contents of the plugin like the skins will depend on the creators of the plugin. We do not have any control of the skins. The skins may or may no longer be available in the plugin versions. If you have installed the plugin a year before and the skins were 20 and if you have just installed the plugin and only has 11 skins, those skins other skins may deem as outdated (deprecated) or may not work with the latest version of the plugin or simply that the creators have opted that those skins may only be available if you have purchased a separate plugin license.

Hope this helps.

Hi there,

That doesn’t help though because all of those 20+ Skins are fully functional in the older install. In fact some of them are available if I was to “purchase” them on the newer install, but are included in the older one. So no, not out dated. According to Themepunch’s Twitter, they say that all plug-in issues are to be address by you since I am not technically their customer, but yours. So who can answer my question? What happened to the extra Skins that “were” free and now are locked up behind a payment?

I need this resolved because I had to temporarily store my content on wrong site that has the fully functional plug-in. I do not take this matter lightly and heavily rely on this plug-in as a feature of your awesome themes. Please help me figure out what went wrong, where and why. Someone out there has an answer. Since I cannot address Themepunch directly (not their customer) I did use Twitter to try and contact them.

What should I do next? I cannot finish my website until this is sorted out.

Thank you

Hey @artthescience,

We’re sorry for the back and forth discussion here but this could only be resolved by 2 methods:

  1. This is already mentioned by Ruenel but I’ll post it here again. Export the Grid Skins from your site where you installed Essential Grid a year ago and import those skins in your site where you recently installed Essential Grid.
  2. Purchase a Standalone Essential Grid license so you can use their new Template Library.

The reason why you have to do either of those is that, in the latest version of Essential Grid, only 11 Skins are bundled. That is the decision of ThemePunch, the author of the Essential Grid. I couldn’t find when this change happened but the bottom-line though is we can do nothing about that change (also mentioned by Ruenel).

Please note that features of a theme, plugin or even WordPress could change overtime due to improvements, author’s/users’ interests, and many more.

Thank you for understanding.

Hi Christian,

Awesome! Thank you so much for explaining what had happened and providing the clarity I was looking for.

Please kindly provide detailed instructions for step 1 so that I can regain the functionally of Essential Grid that I am accustomed to (the single screenshot above is a bit confusing):

“Export the Grid Skins from your site where you installed Essential Grid a year ago and import those skins in your site where you recently installed Essential Grid.”

Thank you very much

Hello @artthescience,

Please do the following:

1.) Log in to your WP site where you have installed Ess. Grid a year ago.
2.) Go to Ess. Grid > Import/Export
3.) Select Export > Skins then make sure all the skins present are selected.
4.) Click the Export Selected button and save the file in your computer.
5.) Log in to your WP site where you have install Ess. Grid recently.
6.) Go to Ess. Grid > Import/Export
7.) Select Import then supply the file that you have downloaded to your computer.

Hope this helps.

:confetti_ball: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!! :tada:

You’re most welcome, @artthescience.
