Essential Grid- Custom Image share to facebook

Hey, I have set up The Essential Grid to display graphics we want people to share for a book launch. I have used a custom grid and uploaded each image into place. Right now I had to make each open in a light box and remove sharing to Facebook all together because no matter what I set it to in every way, it would never actually share the image. It would share the title and link of the page itself, which is great, but not that particular image. Instead it shared the over all pages featured image. IS there something I am missing??? As these images are not tied to actual posts. I thought it would work. It works perfect with Pinterest.

*I’ve tried all the url fixes etc that is supposed to be set up. It DOES share, it just cannot seem to pull the image they are actually clicking to share.

Hi Noellemena,

The essential grid plugin does not have a method to specify the image for the Facebook. Facebook determines which image to use for a page using a specific language called open graph. You will need to search for a third-party plug-in which supports the custom open graph functionality.

I did a Google Search and found out there is a plug-in called Yoast which supports that feature:

Please kindly use that feature with a grain of salt as we did not test the feature and this is only a personal suggestion and not an official one.

Hey, thank you for your response. I know all about open graph and yoast etc and use it on all of my sites. I also use Essential Grid a lot but this is the first time using EG for a custom grid that uses images I choose to assign to each like here https://jeanneoliver.com/test-grid/

Usually EG pulls from whatever the grid is pulling to share socially, That is why Pinterest works perfect. But for Facebook it will only pull the link of the page to share and the featured image assigned to the actual page.

I want it to share the image in the grid. You can see there are 12 different images in the grid. It was supposed to be an easy way to share each image to FB. I have removed facebook all together but would like to know if there is a way. Thanks!

If you want to share the image in the grid in Facebook, you will have to edit your skin that is used in your grid. You will have to add a facebook icon and link it to the facebook share link. Please check out this documentation for more information on how you can do it:
